Norfork Lake Conditions and fishing report By Scuba Steve From Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental Near Mountain Home (click here for comments)

The lake level is 553.60 and there is very little genaration. Crappie and bass fishing is the best now but usually is this time of year. There is still a lot of small fish being caught. I always catch a lot of crappie in October and the big ones usually start to show up in November and December. I have to go to two or three of Blackburns brushpiles in order to find one that is not camped on. People catch a few and then are on it every day. If everyone would put in their own brush it would be better. I do it so my customers have good places to fish. Some people are just lazy. A few white bass are showing up on the flats between Mallard Point and Cranfield Island in 30-ft. of water. But not very many. It is too early to tell. They are always there the full moon in November but it is the 4th this year and it might be a little early for the stripers and walleye north of Cranfield Island. Not much interested in white bass anyway. By the time you cut out the red meat there is not much left. Will take walleye, crappie and catfish anytime but a lot of people like those stripers.
