The lake level is 553.97 and has dropped 1-inch in the last 24-hours with generation about 1/2 the time. The surface water temperature is 48-degrees and the water is trying to cleat after the wind. Scuba Steve could see his lure down 3-4 feet. It is a little brownish green. The White River at Newport is 16.70 feet and dropping. Overall the lake is in excellent condition and at a good level for fishing. Scuba steve went after Big Crappie last evening and caught some nice ones. It was windy and he was only catching one about every 20-minutes but it is worth it when you get that giant one. You feel the thump and they take off. Do not try to lift them over the side of the boat without a net or you will be sorry. I caught all of them casting a grub and minnow past the brush and letting it sink down into it. They were about 15-16 feet deep. It was windy and it did not lay until dark. I am heading out now and we will see if I can catch a couple more. It is to get very warm with highs near 80 early next week. I have to open up more cabins and the calls are really coming in. This i my busy time of year so I do not go out fishing until the days work is done. Please do not get between me and my boat after 4:PM and expect me to be happy about it.
