Norfork Lake Conditions and fishing report By Scuba Steve From Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental Near Mountain Home (click here for comments)

The lake level hit 553.75 last night and they quit generating immediately. I like that level for fishing but it sets us up for more high water. If the hurricane landed further west we would be right back where we were. There needs to be different people managing the lake levels. It has not worked the last few years. It is too bad we cannot vote them out of office. The lake is sure different this fall. There are plenty of huge logs on the shoreline and main lake shallow points partially submerged. These will create cover that was not previously available but be aware things are not the same. Crappie and bass are the best bite now with a lot of small fish. The lake will start to clear now with the lake not dropping and I am seeing signs of it happeneing already until the lake turnover. The warm weather is holding that off a bit. I am not sure about the fall foliage but there are several leaves falling and the sumac is turning brown instead of red. Last year was a dud as far as color goes and we had almost no winter. I will shut off the TV when the NFL comes on and go fish. Gus needs a few crappie. The weather is beautiful and the resort has several cabins full with the people taking advantage of the low off-season rates and the warm. $53/day with a free boat stall. It is very dry here but the rain last week helped a bit.
