Scuba Steve From Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental On Norfork Lake Arkansas Near Mountain Home in the Ozark Mountains Blog. (Click Here For Comments)

The sun is shining bright today and the temperature is rising. The lake level is 555.39 and rising. It was 552.9 on this date last year. It was windy from the north yesterday and very cool. March and April can be very variable here with low pressure and cold fronts passing theough a couple of times a week. Blackburns has a couple of cabins leaving today so we will have some openings. Later this week is very busy with many boats rented. The crappie fishing should pick up soon but is not the best now. Some are still staging, some are spawning and some others are in open water on shad and have done nothing yet. The lake came up fast at a bad time for spawn but that is not unusual. It needs to stay stable now for a couple of weeks. Flatheads are the last thing to spawn and some have moved back in the creeks to feed on the shallow shad and bluegill. Topwater bass and red meat fish are the best bite now early. Get out ther at first light partway back in creeks. The surface temperature is hanging in there at 67. When the high pressure has been around for a while fishing will pick up again.
