All of these fish were caught yesterday.
It is nearly 80 degrees. The grass is growing. The flowers are blooming. The lake is in great shape. The level is rising very slowly and is at 550.76 with a few hours of heavy generation. Mostly in the morning. Surface temperature is in the mid 60's and rising. Some fish have spawned, some are spawning and some are making or on beds. This is an exciting time. Fishing is not fast and furious but there is a good top water bite most mornings and another evening bite just before dark. The early crappie spots that were too shallow a few weeks ago are holding fish now that the lake is up near what I will call normal. Or what I would like to be normal. I would like it to get to about 555 and stay there all year but that is not going to happen. The water is still stained and is a good color for fishing. Sometimes the water gets so clear that you can see the bottom at 25 feet and that makes it rough on fishing. I firmly believe that if the fish can see you they will not bite. I caught my fish yesterday on a small grub and minnow. It changes everyday. My trot line is slow but others are working. I like to keep mine close and in sight. They will move there soon. Blackburns is very busy. If you are staying at a place where you are nearly the only customer you are paying too much. Come on down.
