Scuba Steve From Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental On Norfork Lake Arkansas Near Mountain Home in the Ozark Mountains Blog. (Click Here For Comments)

I went out yesterday afternoon and this is what I found: Water temperature was 48 degrees and both main lake and creeks were stained. The level is 548.16 and dropping with two generators running starting this morning. For you open water fishermen the shad were 50-feet down no matter how deep the water is. If it is 50 feet deep they are on the bottom and if it is 100 feet deep they are 50-feet down. Lots of them too. I spooned just a bit and caught a white bass and a small hybrid but am not interested in them. People catching stripers everyday remember the posession limit is twice the daily limit which is 3 of combined hybrids and stripers. It is a shame to kill these fish as they only dress out about 40 % after the red meat is cut out or less. Put them back and catch them again.  They are semi put and take but pull hard. I caught some very large crappie and a couple of nice bass. They were not biting very fast but there were some very nice ones. There was no wind and I was fishing brush with both crappie minnows and 1/4 ounce Bink's spoons. Nine feet down for crappie minnows and on the bottom for bass and walleye with the spoon. It was good to just be out. It is to be near 60 and cloudy this next week with some rain but no rain outs.  Good time to go fishing. Maybe I will see you out there. I did catch a couple of walleye just before dark but they were a little short.
