I went diving yesterday and everything was about the same. Creeks are stained and the water looks stained on the main lake but is pretty clear after you get down there a ways. I swam pretty far and saw fish only on or near brush. I got my second striper ever in 21 years of diving and a white bass and two nice walleye but was down about two hours. All of the fish were at or near 30-feet. None were deeper than 32. The cold water is still at 38 feet. Pole fishermen are still having trouble catching fish. Bink is out with some of our guests now and we will see how they do. If anybody can catch them he can. Fishing is like baseball. Anybody can hit when the score is 10-0 but the guy that hits when it is 1-0 is the best. Anybody can catch fish when they are biting but few can do it when they are not. This is one of those times. October is nearly here and we are approaching fall foliage time. The color usually peaks the very last of October and seldom varies too much from that. Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental is your fall foliage headquarters for Northern Arkansas, Ozark Mountains and the Mountain Home area. We have just finished a new garage for our guests with motorcycles and they will like it. We have a lot of bikers stay here due to our proximity to town and good rural roads for riding not to mention the lowest rates in the area. You can get a one bedroom for two people for only $53/day. The lake level is at 553.6 and is dropping slowly and is at a very good level. The surface temperature is near 80. Catfish and bass are the best bite now with a few white bass being caught. Call 1-800-635-0526 to get reservations. We stay pretty full all fall. A lot of people are predicting what is needed to start the bite but the fish are there and when it starts you need to be there not on the couch. It was windy yesterday with the front coming in and we will see what that does. The weather is beautiful with cool mornings and warm sunny afternoons. It is good to just be out there especially if you are a diver then it is really good.
