Scuba Steve From Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental On Norfork Lake Arkansas Near Mountain Home in the Ozark Mountains Blog. (Click Here For Comments)

The lake level is 553.81 and is now dropping just a bit with some generation in the afternoon and evenings. The creeks have turned green for some reason and the main lake is now stained. The surface temperature is 82 and dropping. It is to be sunny with highs near 80 and lows near 50 for the next several days. We got very little rain with the last front moving through and are very dry.  I went diving on the insides of main lake points and found quite a few fish. I saw two schools of crappie and three schools of white bass and several walleye all on brush at 30-feet and got some nice ones. The visibility was not as it looked from the surface and was not bad at all.  Just right for spearfishing. I like to see just enough as my gun can shoot effectively. It could have been a little better but I cannot argue with results. The water was just the right temperature and it was nice with the heat turned off. The thermocline is very distinct at 38 feet but there are no fish there due to the low oxygen. All fish were at 27-31 feet. People are having trouble catching fish now but that could change any day, and quickly. There is a top water bite early but they are mostly small bass. You can catch some smallmouth bass spooning brush or working a plastic worm off rocky banks on the inside points part way back in the creeks. We could get some good fishing before the lake turns. I will let you know. The fish are there.
