Norfork Lake Fishing Report By Scuba Steve From Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental On Norfork Lake Arkansas Near Mountain Home In the Ozark Mountains (Click Here for Comments)

We have received a little rain so far but not much. Just a few showers. It looks to be a perfect weekend with a high pressure moving in with sunny skies and temperatures in the low 80's. These cloudy days have made for some good fishing. The full moon on friday and the high pressure may slow that a bit but if you get out before sunrise the topwater bite will still be good for both bass and stripers. There is a lot of pollen on the water and it is bad on the banks where the wind is blowing into and the backs of the creeks. The lake is clearing and there will be some sight fishing for bass. I was out all afternoon and did not see one wrapped boat. They must not be doing much pre-fishing on Norfork or stopping when the tournament usually stops. I was in a prime bass area and catching several large ones. Thursday will be the only day we will have to fish around the crowd but there are only 109 entries but several other spectator and filming boats. They quit about the time the fishing gets good in the afternoon. The weigh in is at the college and they will have to haul the fish there and back. Maybe they will put the fish in Norfork rather than the long trip back on friday and saturday. I hope they do not bring any Zebra Mussels to Norfork . They can keep them where they are. I do not know where the algae is coming from this spring. We do not usually have any let alone this early. You cannot rely on what usually happens anymore but get out there everyday and see for yourself. Some big fish are coming in everyday. It took it a long time to warm up yesterday but it finally did about 4:pm. I will fish around the showers today.
