Scuba Steve Caught Several Of These This Morning.Image title

Cloudy with light rain today. We need it as it was getting very dry. I had to irrigate my garden already. It is to get to 70 today but is only 60 at noon. If you like birds, Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental is the place. The purple martins and hummingbirds are back and the bluebirds are nesting everywhere. We are an Arkansas State Bird Sanctuary and have dozens of year around speces. The goldfinches are beautiful.  I have three pileated woodpeckers on my feeder everyday and they are big. I guess the fish are tired of waiting for the water temperature to warm and are spawning everywhere. Some days the temperature is 63 and others it is 60. The ambient temperature is to get to the 80's this weekend and that will really get them going. Some smallmouth are finished and are biting aggressively. The creeks are stained a bit but clearing as the lake has been very stable for several weeks. The morning topwater bite has begun and will last longer each day. They are shallow early before sunrise and you can bring them up with a spook and then watch for them to surface at sunrise. Bass too. There is a fishing tournament this week starting Thursday, moving to another lake on Friday and Saturday and Returning  Sunday. There will be 109 fishermen. It should not interfere with fishing much after Thursday with only a few boats left for Sunday so come on down. I am not much on fishing tournaments right in the middle of the spawn but maybe the creeks will be too stained for sight fishing. I am catching some big bass but releasing all of them immediately.
