Fisherman Mike with some nice Norfork Lake Winter Crappie. Big.
The lake level was 553.71 and is exactly what it was at this time yesterday with generation intermittantly about 1/2 the time. The White River at Newport is 20.75 feet and is what it should have been all winter to drop the lakes. We have received 0.6 inches of rain since about noon today. The surface water temperature is just under 46-degrees and the water is stained and Scuba Steve could see his lure down only about 3-feet but it was rainy and dark and he had to dodge showers all afternoon but not too bad. As long as Bryant Creek is normal at Tecumseh, Norfork is not going to rise much. It is the major tributary. He knows where the sanctuary places are located to get out of the rain. Scuba Steve knew the fish would be biting today and was going to go out no matter what. He caught big ones. He knows where the weather is coming from and when to come in. He was at the dock about one minute before a big downpour. It was not an accident and he does not have a cell phone. He preferrs to remain in the 20th century and likes it that way for some reason he catches fish every day without a live scope. Amazing. . Many people ask him about the weather rather that watching their phone. Blackburns is nearly full and has some very nice folks in from Johnson County Iowa and they know what Norfork Lake Winter Crappie look like. We are happy they are here. Enjoy.
