Scuba Steve likes these.
The lake level is 554.52 and has risen 1-ft. in the last 24-hours with only three hours of generation this morning after over two days of nothing. The White River at Newport is 22.36 feet and high but Bryant Creek at Tecumseh is only 5.14 feet and I do not expect much more of a rise if they generate anything. We received 1.3 inches of rain and the frost is now out of the ground. The brown water is out past crappie rock in Blackburns Creek but should drop out soon. Scuba Steve could see his lure down about 3-4 feet on the main lake and the surface water temperature was over 48-degrees on the main lake. The fog rolled in about 6:PM. and Scuba Steve came in shortly after that but caught some very nice fish on his new brush piles. He is catching 15-inch crappie everyday and this is his favorite time to fish. Use a small grub and minnow, small spoon or live minnow on a slip float about 20-feet down. You can use a grub on a jig head partway back in the deeper creeks for Kentucky bass. Vertical jig the spoon in and just around the brush, cast the grub and minnow past the brush and let it sink into it or use a larger minnow on a slip float right over the brush. A small lively shiner about 2-1/2 inches long works well for the big ones. A lot of fish are in 30-35 feet of water 20-ft. down. I do not like fishing brown water in the winter but in the spring it warms faster than clear water. I am catching most of my fish on main lake brush on or just around points. Now is the time to book your spring fishing trips and summer family vacations. Compare prices and give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. It is nice here and the price is right.
