Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region Fishing Report and lake Condition by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

The lake level is 553.57 and has risen 5-inches in the last 24-hours with no generation for two days. The White River at Newport is 8.24 feet and still low. We have received about 0,8 inches of rain so far and the creeks are running hard with a lot of runoff. Bryant creek at Tecumseh is only 4.76 feet and has not come up much but if it does so will Norfork lake. The surface water temperature is 46-degrees and the backs of the creeks are brown. The Bass fishing should pick up where the brown water meets the more clear water on a slowly retrieved crank bait or grub and minnow but nothing is very clear. Stay where the water is warmest and the bank that the wind has been blowing into. Crappie fishing has improved and the rain should not hurt anything. Look for fish on and near brush in 32-feet of water 20-22 feet down and use a small spoon, grub and minnow or a slip float with live minnow. The bigger crappie like the 2-1/2 inch live minnow best this time of year. Set your slip float down to about 25-feet and reel up very slowly and keep doing this and change minnows regularly when they get tired. They like the lively bait and are biting slowly with no thump. Your float will either go down slowly or lay down when they come up to get the bait. Give them time and do not get in a hurry to set the hook. Some Crappie are very large. The Walleye are in the same place but just a couple of feet off the bottom and off the side of the brush. I was catching Stripers just after dark but not the last couple of days. I do not keep them anyway. April 15th to the first part of June is the best fishing with the best weather and the topwater bite is excellent just before sunrise.
