Nicolas Grunwald with some nice Norfork Lake Crappie.
The lake level is 554.41 and is the same as it was yesterday with no generation since 8:PM last evening. They refuse to drop the lake. The White River is 20-37 degrees and dropping and the surface water temperature is 52+ degrees and starting to drop again with the much cooler ambient temperatures on the way next week. The water is clearing with the reduced generation both on the main lake and in the creeks. The lake overall is in good condition and at a good level for fishing but fishing is just fair. Scuba Steve is catching some good ones everyday but not a lot. The very best time to fish is just at sunset until about 1-hour after dark. It is slow but steady on cloudy afternoons at about 4:PM. I do not go out at the crack of dawn but wait until it warms up a bit and do not hate them that bad. It is going to be cold out there starting Monday and it is time to get out the electric gear. When the ice gets in the rod eyelets and the reel drag freezes I am done. You cannot hold big fish and Norfork Lake has some big fish. Now is the time to start to plan your spring fishing trip and summer family vacations. Check out www.blackburnsresort.com and compare prices and give Debbie a call at 870-492-6115 for a reservation to get the cabin and boat rental of your choice. Blackburns has the best place with the best price and is closest to Mountain Home, dining and shopping. Scuba Steve will help you with fishing. Your first boat stall comes free with the cabin rental. You have to watch as some charge for them. We are family owned and family operated and are not for sale and not sold. We like it here and you will too. We especially welcome Veterans and Police. Scuba Steve is a Veteran but does not need nearly as much policing as he used to. We just put in a new queen bed in cabin #7 and continue our policy of continuous improvement while keeping our prices low. All cabins now have nearly new mattresses and bedding. A good nights sleep is important. Peace and quiet helps too and we have that.
