The lake level is 554.84 and is the same as it was at this time yesterday with both generators running about 1/2 the time. The White River at Newport is 23.03 feet and is where it should have been all winter to get the area lakes down for the spring rains. They just refuse to drop them and we are approaching January. The surface water temperature is 53-54 degrees and has come up just a bit. The water is still stained a bit on the main lake and more in the creeks but clearing near the shore. The lake overall is in good condition and at a good level for fishing. It has been warm with fog in the mornings but that is about to change with very cold weather coming next weekend. Striper fishermen are trolling around all over the place and catching a few smaller fish and keeping all of them. It must be fun dragging stuff all over the lake and waiting for a fish to bite off a rod holder and catching it's self and reeling it in especially on an umbrella rig which weighs about 5-lbs on it's own. Crappie and Bass fishing is fair to good part way back in the Creeks on Brush with a Walleye thrown in once in a while. Use a Bink's Spoon, slip float with minnow or a grub and minnow right in the brush. Several nice fish are being caught in the mornings and evenings. Take the middle of the day off and fish until dark.If you are in the Mountain Home area stop by Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental and check us out.
