Zane Underwood with more nice ones.
The lake level is 554,84 and has dropped 1-inch in the last 24-hours with both generators running continuously. We received another 1.4 inches of rain and the creeks are running and it is raining now with more on the way. The ground is saturated. The surface water temperature is 52 degrees and the water is stained a little brown on the main lake and more in the creeks. Overall the lake is in excellent condition and at a good level but too high for this time of year. They are running Bull Shoals very heavily to keep it at the top of the power pool and the White River at Newport is 20.26 feet and is where it should be while they drop the lakes for the winter which they refuse to do. They like to hold and flood us out and then open the flood gates bypassing the generators and wasting water for electricity. I will talk to Elon about this. There were several trollers in the Cranfield area this morning dragging stuff through scools of shad in the fog trying to catch Stripers. I was catching Walleye, Crappie and Bass on the spoon. I guess trolling is ok if you do not know any other way to catch fish. Trolling and brush pile fishing does not go together very well. I am too poor to afford the fuel as they travel far and wide looking for feeding fish on shad. At least I do not have to hear about Flicker Minnows and Kastmasters anymore. They went out with high button shoes. The next time you are in the Mountain Homne area stop by Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental. We have the best place with the best price and are closest to Mountain Home dining and shopping. A free stall for your boat at our big dock comes with the cabin rental. All cabins are individual with no duplexes and all have big covered porches or screened-in porches to get out of the weather and sun. Scuba Steve will help you with fishing and show you where his brush piles are located. We are family owned and family operated and are not for sale or sold. We like it here. Give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. Why pay more?
