Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region fishing report and lake condition by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

Zane Underwood is here with his Grandfather Bryan Deardoff and catching some nice fish. Nice young man.Image title

Tha lake level is 554.88 and has risen 2-1/2 inches in the last 24-hours with one generator running continuously. The White River at Newport is 16.58 feet and stable. It could be at 21-feet if they wanted to but they refuse to drop the lake for the winter. The surface water temperature is 54-degrees and is trying to clear up again after the earlier rain. Overall the lake is in excellent condition and at a good level and color for fishing. It has been cloudy and dreary for several days with no sun but it is to warm up for a few days and then another cold front is coming through next week. I am surprised that Catfishing is as good as it is for this time of year but the Striper bite has slowed a bit the last few days. Crappie fishing is good on grubs tipped with live minnows and minnows on a slip float starting a little after 4:PM until just after dark. Bass are part way back in the creeks and can be caught on grubs and crank baits. Walleye are also back in the creeks near any cover in about 14-ft. of water also in the evening. I do not open water fish this time of year. Some nice Smallmouth are showing up on brush with the Crappie. This is a good time of year for fishing with no jet skis or Queen Marys out there. Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental is open all year and has the best prices in the ozarks. Give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. We especially welcome Veterans and Police.
