Garnet Burch, Lilly, Allie and Piper Bornhop visiting Balckburns Resort and Boat Rental. Hope they had fun. Nice people. Merry Christmas.
The lake level is 554.70 and has risen 3-3/4 inches in the last 24-hours with one generator running continuously. The surface water temperature is 54-degrees and we received a two day total of 1.4 inches of rain and the creeks ran. The ground is saturated and that is good going into the winter. The White River at Newport is 16.80 feet and dropping and they are holding the lake up too high. It is to get very warm with highs in the 60's later this week but you can count on a cold front coming through every week after that. The water was a little more stained yesterday evening but still a good color for fishing. It rained lightly most of the time I was out in the afternoon and evening. The fish did not bite fast but I caught some good ones. Included was one of Scuba Steve's largest Crappie ever on Norfork lake and that is saying something. i caught some bigger ones at the Empty Bar Resort in Minnesota and out of a farm pond in Iowa but that is about it. I also caught some very large Bluegill and a few other Crappie but no Walleye or Stripers like the day before. This is my favorite time of year to fish especially if the ambient temperature is near 50. Fishing is not on fire and they are not in a frenzy but you can catch some nice ones everyday if you know how. Scuba Steve will help you. He has some good brush piles and will show you where when you get here. Compare prices and give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. We wish to thank all of our guests this year for your repeat business and hope you had a fun time and an affordable vacation. Merry Christmas.
