Norfork Lake Condition Report by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental

The lake level is 554.78 and has risen 3-1/2 feet in the last 24-hours. We have received 6.6 inches of rain the last 2-days with more on the way. The creeks are running hard and the brown water is heading out toward the main lake. It is rising at a rate of 5-inches/hour. They started up one generator for a few minutes earlier but shut it off so it would not rust shut from lack of use. We are well higher than the top of the power pool so the Corps of Engineers can slow the rise if they want to as the White River at Newport is only 3.62 feet and very low. They always quit generating when it rains in order to maximize the water level rise and get us closer to being flooded out. They received 7-1/2 inches of rain in Tecumseh, Missouri in the Norfork River watershed so the level is going to get much higher if they do not turn on both generators at least. At least Bull Shoals was 9-feet below the top of the power pool and can hold a lot of water but they refused to drop Norfork for some reason and kept it high. We definetely need different lake level managers. They seem to get surprised by everything over and over but are government to you cannot expect much and do not get much. I wish they were on the ballot and could get voted out and fired. I look for it to get to 560 if they do not let water out but there is no accountability. I have to go move my dock again and fix the road. The county no longer maintains the road so it is up to me but I can handle it. I have seen things much worse and it is just a part of the job. I like it.
