Fisherman Mike with some nice ones diving Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental's Brush Piles.Yes we know where they are and we will show you
The lake level is 553.14 and has dropped 1-inch in the last 24-hours with one generator running from 2-10 PM. The same is scheduled for today. The White River at Newport is 4.75 feet and very low indicating not much water is being released anywhere. The surface water temperature is 75-degrees and stable with the warm ambient temperature. It is to cool early next week. The visibility is about 6-7 feet at 30-feet down and the lake is very clear near the shore. Moss is growing on the shoreline in the creeks that has not been there before. It has gotten worse the last couple of years. Bass are moving shallow in the creeks with the abundant bait fish. There is a sporatic top-water bite but you cannot depend on it but be ready. You can catch some nice Largemouth. Plastic worms are working especially for Smallmouth. The crappie that I am catching on the brush piles are mostly small. Some Walleye are around brush in 22-30-ft. of water. They move with the wind direction. The moon getting bigger and the lake dropping along with the high sunny skies with high pressure is not helping fishing any but they do not feed much in early October anyway. You have to go for reaction strikes and set the hook hard and early. Small Stripers are on main lake points and just around them but I am not getting any big ones. Big Bluegill are biting well off docks and willows on crickets. Overall the lake is in good condition and at a good level but fishing is just fair. Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental is in good condition and the prices on cabins and boat rentals are excellent. A free stall for your boat comes with a cabin rental of two days or more. Compare prices and give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. Why pay more unless you just have too much money? It is nice here and the price is right.
