Scuba Steve with a nice one yesterday diving Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental's Brush Piles. Yes he knows where they are.
The lake level is 553.24 and has dropped 1.2 inches in the last 24-hours with one generator running for 8-hours from 2-10 PM. They supercharged the generators after being down for overhall last year for so long so they now generate a little more electricity. The same is scheduled for today. They are dropping Bull Shoals a lot and holding Norfork up high. The surface water temperature is 74-degrees and stable with the warm ambient temperatures. It is to stay very warm until about Tuesday and then cool way down. The water is getting more clear both in the creeks and main lake with very clear water near the shore. Fishing is not heating up much but some nice ones are being caught everyday if you know how. They just do not like warm, sunny, clear, bright days much and we have had a lot of them,. October is a different ballgame until it gets cooler at the end of the month and they start biting again. They do not feed very well in early October for some reason. You can get mostly reaction strikes now and they are not sucking it down. You have to set the hook fast and hard or they will get off if you allow any slack in the line. There is a top-water bite but it is sporatic and does not last very long and is mostly Bass. I do not know where the White Bass have gone. They are probably out and suspended and not feeding yet. That is why I mostly Scuba Dive in October. At least Scuba Steve knows where they are even if they are not biting well. I am ready for the big Norfork Lake Crappie to show up starting in November and continuing through the winter. Then early March comes with the steady cold fronts and the lock jaw starts again until April. There can be a good after dark bite for spawning Stripers just before the full moon in March if it happeens in the latter part of the month but the live scopes have thinned out the big stripers again. People that do not have a clue can now catch them especially in open water. The fall foliage is changing color but is mostly yellow and brown. A frost could change that but we have not been near one yet. The roadsides have more color than the lakeshore but it is beautiful out on the water anyway. We are getting dry again. Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental still has $69/day one bedroom cabins and $89/day two bedrooms with 3&4 bedrooms priced accordingly and they come with a free stall for your boat at our big dock. All cabins are individual with no duplexes and all have big covered porches. Give Debbie a call at 870-402-5115 for a reservation. We will not charge you too much. Blackburns Resort customers catch more fish and do not pay too much. That is a good combination. No, we are not for sale and have not sold. We like it here and are family owned and family operated.
