The lake level is 554.45 and has dropped 1-3/4 inches in the last 24-hours with 1-1/4 generators running for about 10-hours. They are scheduled to run for about 7-hours today. The White River at newport is 5.11 feet and very low. The surface water temperature is 76-degrees and the water is cloudy down to about 24-feet and clears after that. The creeks are clearing. The lake is in excellent condition and at a good level and the weather is perfect to be out on the water with highs near 80 and sunny. Fishing is not the best but a few are being caught. Some Crappie have moved partway back in the creeks but are small. I am not finding very many big ones yet. There are lots of fish out there but getting them to bite is the problem. It is like they get lockjaw in October and it started earlier this year. I am getting some good ones diving but pole fishing is difficult. A Bink's jigging spoon or live bait is the best bet. Everything is spooky and roaming. Go partway back in the creeks that the wind is blowing into and start looking. It should get better soon but I have been saying that for two weeks. It is nice to be out there though. This puts good fishermen to the test and that is fun. I am seeing a little top-water but they are mostly Bass and it does not last long. I may have to resort to fishing for White Bass and that is bad. You can get good fishing information and lake condition not only on this blog but on KTLO radio.
