The lake level is 554.70 and has risen 1/2 inch in the last 24-hours with no generation. They are scheduled to run 1-1/4 generators for four hours starting at 6PM this eveing. There is no effort to drop the lake. The White River at Newport is 5.45 feet and very low. Not much water is being released anywhere. The surface water temperature is 78-degrees and dropping slowly. The clarity is fair down to about 22-feet and clear below that. Scuba conditions are good but the the crappie are hard to find. I am seeing only a couple on each brush pile. Walleye are better. There are a lot of shorts with about one in five being 18-inches. Several more nice sized Largemouth Bass are now on and around the brush that were not there a few days ago. White Bass are in 50-ft. of water 30-feet down on shad on steep windblown banks and hitting Bink's Spoons. A few smaller Stripers are with them. Pole fishing is getting better and it needed to. It should keep improving as the water cools now that the lake has turned over. We are to get some rain tomorrow but the weather looks good after that. The hardwoods are starting to change color a little on the shoreline but not much. The grass keeps growing and everything is very green. Peak leaf color looks to be just a little earlier this year than the very last of October that is normal. It is very nice to be out on the lake on a sunny October afternoon with beautiful scenery and catching a few fish. It is good for the Soul. Come on down to Blackburns Resort and enjoy. If you have put your boat away you can rent one of ours. We have a lot of them and at good prices. Compare our rates with everywhere else and give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. We will not charge you too much and it is nice here. Scuba Steve will show you where his brush piles are located and he has some good ones. We are Family owned and operated and especially welcome Veterans and Police. The same people that manage the place do the work and provide the customer service. No. We are not for sale and have not sold and left town. We like it here.
