Scuba Steve with some nice ones diving Blackburns Brush Piles Yesterday. Yes we will show you where when you get here. Fishing and Diving Conditions are good.
The lake level is 554.65 and has dropped 1-inch in the last 24-hours with 1-1/4 generators running for 9-hours from 1-10PM. The White River at Newport is 5.10 feet and very low indicating not much effort to drop the areas lakes. The top of the power pool goes to 553.75 on October 1st and they usually try to get down to that. The surface water temperature is 78-degrees and dropping and there is good visibility at 30-feet. Several fish of different species are between 20-35 feet near brush and I saw some top-water action about 5:PM on a South facing bank in a main lake cut. They looked like White Bass. The lake overall is in excellent condition and at a good level but fishing is just fair. The fish are in the fall pattern and it is either feast or famine. Bink's Resorts catching several large White Bass and Small Stripers on shad setting in 50-feet of water 30-feet down on the spoon as fast as he could catch them in one place and nothing in two other places with the same conditions on the spoon. The fish were full of shad about the size of a 1/4 ounce spoon but he saw no top-water. The water was 79-degrees where he was fishing yesterday. The creeks are stained green but trying to clear. When we get a rain it is spotty and hard and fast. It looks like we will miss most of the hurricane and it could stay a little east of us so far. We will see what Friday brings.
