The lake level is 554.73 and has dropped 1.2 inches in the last 24-hours with 1-1/4 generators runinng about 8-hours. The same is scheduled for today starting at 11:AM. The White River at Newport is 6.76 feet and remains low. The surface water tmeperature is rising and approaching 80 again. Just right for swimming. The visibility is about 5-6 feet at 30-feet and good for Scuba Diving. Fishing remains just fair but some good ones are being caught every day. The most fish are now on brush piles on both main lake and part way back in the creeks in 18-35 feet of water. Open water fishing is not the best and trollers are having a hard time. Not much good happens while trying to drag stuff through brush. It is much better to vertical jig a spoon or grub or drop a live minnow down just over the top of the brush. There is some top-water early and late but they are mostly small Bass. I am seeing some White Bass and a few Stripers near the brush and very spooky. Most fish that I am cleaning are void of food but that is not unusual for this time of year. Fishing will get better as the water cools and continues to clear now that the lake has turned. Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental continues to be the home of the $69/day 1-bedroom cabins.
