The lake level is 555.23 and has dropped 1/2 inch in the last 24-hours with 1-1/4 generators riunning about 5-hours. The surface water temperature is 80-degrees and dropping and there is fog in the early mornings with the water temperature higher than the ambient temperature. Do not try to run blind on GPS. The White River at Newport is 1.92 feet and about ready to dry up and they continue to hold Norfork lake up high for some unknown reason. When I went diving yesterday I found no thermocline down to 36-feet where it was at 31-feet the day before. It had gone away and the lake had turned in this area which is about a month early. Things are changing on Norfork lake for some reason. That expalins the poor pole fishing. It has not affected Scuba Diving. Now the fish have no reason the be anywhere particular except for cover and food. This is where brush pilles come into play and Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental has some good ones and Scuba Steve will show you when you get here. Fishing should start getting better as the water cools and the lake clears. The visibility is fair now.  People ask me when the worst fishing is and I always say early March and Early October but it started in September this year. You can catch some now but it is not easy. The good thing is that the weather has been beautiful but dry. We seem to get a rain every time we need one and should get some with the storm coming up from the Gulf. It does not look to be too bad here and we could use an inch or two. We got it all in about 1-hour earlier this month. Your best bet for a lure now is a jigging spoon in and around brush on main lake points. I am seeing a lot of fish there while Scuba Diving including White Bass, Crappie, Walleye, Bass and Bluegill. If you are visiting the Mountain Home area and need a place to stay, Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental is the place where you can get a nice cabin for $69/day and it includes a stall for your boat at our big dock in a sheltered cove. Give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. It is nice here and the price is right. We sell peace and quiet and no drama. The peak Fall Foliage looks to be early this year. My burning bush is turning already. What is with this? I will be out there everyday to let you know what is happening but do not know why.
