Mike Eaklw with some nice ones diving. Man is that fun and the conditions are good.
The lake level is 555.42 and is down 1-inch in the last 24-hours with about 7-hours of running 1-1/2 generators. The same is scheduled for today. The White River at Newport is 3.12 feet and very low. It was just over 1-ft. yesterday and dried up in some areas. The top of the power pool drops to 553.75 on October 1st so maybe they will let out a little then. They sure do like to hold the level up high. The surface water temperature is just over 83-degrees and has risen a bit. The water clarity had diminished last eveing but still good for scuba diving. I saw less Crappie but still got a few nice ones. More fish are moving part way back in the windblown creeks in 25-35 feet of water on shad including White Bass, a few Hybrids, Bass and Bluegill. The wind has been coming out of the North for a few days not so start looking in the North facing creeks. I am seeing a lot of Walleye but most are throwbacks. More Largemouth are joining the Kentucky Bass on main lake brush. Some are in front of it and some are around the sides in 15-30 feet of water. Red meat fish have moved shallower on shad and the spoon is the best lure for about everything. Vary the size with the water depth you are fishing and keep your line clear and light. Spoons do not work properly when dragging around a log chain. Trollers are catching a few fish but are dragging stuff around a long ways. A slip float with a live minnow down about 15-feet will catch a few Crappie, Kentucky Bass and Bluegill on brush. Most brush is holding some fish but they are roaming. One they they are all over the place and the next they are mostly gone. The crappie leave but come back. If you use spot lock with your trolling motor you will scare them away. It is good for open water fish but that is about it. You can beat the bank part way back in the creeks in the evening with a crank bait and catch a few fish. I prefer the grub. Compare prices and give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. Blackburns is on their winter rates and you can get a cabin for $69/day and that includes a free stall for your boat at our dock. No better deal around. We like our customers and do not want to charge them too much. No we are not sold and are not for sale. We like it here and are not leaving town. Why would anybody want to leave? They are moving here by the 100's
