The lake level is 555.57 and is down 1/4 inch in the last 24-hours with less than one generator running for 5-hours. Less is scheduled for today. The White River at Newport is 3.68 feet and about ready to dry up. The surface water temperature is 82-degrees and the creeks are stained green with some floating algae and the main lake is churned up with the holiday boat traffic. We now have peace and quiet with the last summer holiday over for another season and the fishermen can take over again. I will miss the jet skis and wake boats like a barnacle being removed from my behind. With the peace and quiet comes much lower prices here at Blackburns. You can now get a 1-bedroom cabin for $69/day and a 2-bedroom for $89/day with 3&4 bedrooms priced accordingly and a free stall for your boat comes with a cabin rental of two days ore more. There are no better places or better prices around and Scuba Steve will show you where his brush piles are located when you get here. No we are not sold or for sale and you do not have to break in a new resort owner. We like it here and are passing the resort down in the family who already live here and plan on a continued policy of continued improvement while keeping the prices low for our many repeat customers.  Some changes are happening in and on the lake and I will check them out and let you know. Some of the larger Stripers are moving up to about 30-feet and White Bass even shallower. I will check on the thermocline later. You cannot look at your fish finder and tell what is happening in the lake. I used to have a fish and temp that you could drop down and tell but someone needed it worse than I do. The old Aqua-View cameras have them but there are not many of them around anymore. There are always fish just above, at or just below the thermocline. It goes away sometime in October when the lake turns and then the fish scatter and there is no reason for them to be anywhere in particular except for food and cover and those are usually in the same place. That is when the brush piles come into play big time and Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental has some good ones and Scuba Steve will show you where they are when you get here. The ones that the Game and Fish put in several years ago are old and need refreshed. Blackburn's are not. Nothing attracks fish better or quicker than a thick Cedar Tree on top of another old one in an establiched fishy area. Any good Scuba Diver can verify that. You can go down a bank with no cover and there are no fish until you almost get to a fresh brush pile and then guess what, fish. It you know where they are you have a big advantage and you do not need to troll and drag stuff all over the lake to cover a lot of ground like carpet bombing. I do not burn much gas but catch a fair amount of fish. by putting in brush piles. I seldom fish anywhere except my own brush. This is the time. Give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. Thanksgiving is an excellent time and Scuba Steve always catches several good ones then. The whole month of Novermber is good.
