The lake level is 555.30 and is down 1-1/2 inches in the last 24-hours with a little less than 1-1/2 generators running for about 10- hours. The White River at Newport is 6.91 feet and very low indicating not much water is being released anywhere. The surface water temperature is 86-degrees and the water is cloudy down to about 14-feet with a thermocline starting at 27-feet and cold at 31-feet with good visibility for scuba diving. Several fish have moved in above the thermocline. I am seeing less crappie on the brush than a few days ago but there are some good ones. Walleye are all over the place but near main lake points with brush . Stripers are deep and in the oxygen bubble and most have lock jaw. The best bite is Bluegill and Kentuclky Bass. The lake is in excellent condition and at a good level for swimming, boating, fishing, scuba diving and fishing but fishing is only fair. It will get better soon. Find a main lake brush pile in about 30-ft. of water and it will have big Bluegill and Kentucky Bass on it with a few Crappie, Largemouth and Walleye. Some Bass and White Bass are part way back in the windblown creeks in the evening in about 25-ft. of water on shad. Which way the wind has been blowing from for a couple of days go to the opposite bank. Spoons and live minnows on a slip float are best. Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental goes on their off-season rates on Monday and you can get a 1-bedroom cabin for $69/day and a 2-bedroom for $89/day. Three and four bedrooms are priced accordingly. A free stall for your boat at our big dock comes with a cabin rental of 2-days or more. We do not have stalls for one day rentals. All cabins are individual with no duplexes and all have big covered porches to get out of the sun and weather. You can launch here, park here and not have to go down a cliff to get to the dock.
