Wildlife at Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental. Scuba Steve is not one of them anymore. The bucks like playing frisbee golf.
The lake level is 555.90 and is approacing the top of the power pool of 555.75 where the power administration takes over most of the generation schedule. They quit generating at midnight last night and are scheduled to start back up at noon today with 1-1/2 generators. It has dropped 1-inch in the last 24-hours. We received a pop-up shower yesterday afternoon at about 3:PM and it rained hard for several minutes and we received 0.6 inches here at Blackburns and it really greened up everything. We seem to get some everytime we need it but are still dry but not bad for the end of August. No significant rain is forecast for the next week until Friday when it is to cool down. It is hot and humid today. The surface water temperature is 84-degrees with fairly clear water down to the thermocline of 31-feet and very cloudy below that. Striper fishing is tough with most of the fish down deep in the oxygen bubble with lockjaw. When you see pictures of Striper fishermen with White Bass and trolling you know it is not good. A few are being caught though. This is an excellent time to catch some very nice Bluegill for sammiches at the shore lunch. Shore lunch in Canada consists of fried walleye fillets about 14-inches long, fried potatoes and onions, baked beans and bread and butter sammiches. It is the same thing every day and you never get tired of it. You can do the same thing here on Norfork lake and not have to fly in, the Walleye are bigger, we have no black flies or mosquitoes and you can take some home. The seaon never closes here and it is much lower in price. I am seeing more and more Crappie on Blackburns Brush Piles every day but they are roaming and spooky. This is the time to schedule your fall fishing trip to Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental on Norfork Lake so you can get the cabin and boat rental of your choice and not be disappointed. We are the first to book up because we have the best place and the best prices in the Ozarks. A free stall for your boat comes with a cabin rental of two days or more. Compare prices and give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115. It is nice here and the price is right. We will not charge you too much and Scuba Steve will show you where his brush piles are located and he has some good ones. If you like watching wildlife this is the place. We are an Arkansas State Official Bird Sanctuary.
