The lake level is 557.11 and has dropped 1-1/2 inches in the last 24-hours. They quit generating at 2AM this morning but started back up at 9AM. They are scheduled to run 1-3/4 generators for 12-hours today. The White River at Newport is only 9-feet so they could be letting out much more if they wanted to. They do not like Norfork lake. We are the only ones above the top of the power pool in the whole area. The surface water temperature is 86-degrees and the lake is in excellent condition for boating, swimming, Scuba Diving and fishing. The thermocline is at 34-feet with visibility at about 5-feet at that depth. I like it about 2-feet further than my outstretched speargun. There is some floating algae in the backs of the wind blown creeks. We did not used to have this. I think it has something to do with Dawt Mill dam being gone. It sure has allowed more fish to go further upstream in the Norfork River and allows the runoff to get here quicker. It has been very nice to get summer rains regularly this year keeping everything green and looking good. It is usually brown and dusty in August. School started here today and things have really calmed down but that will change in about a week and a half when the last holiday gets here. It will go from low boat traffice to 100 MPH overnight and then calm again. I am ready for September 3rd. You can launch here, park here have peace and quiet and not have to drive 20-miles to get to everything. We will not charge you too much and it is nice here.
