The lake level is 557.16 and has dropped 2-inches in the last 24-hours with 1-3/4 generators running continuously. The White River at Newport is 9.15 feet and a little higher but they still could be letting out much more water if they wanted to. It is very hot and surely some one in the Southwestern Power Authority Distribution Area needs some electricity. Some say they are saving ithe water for later but that is not so. They hold until it is too high and then release the water through the flood gates by-passing the generators wasting the money. They do it over and over with no accountability. I used to say my Dog Toby could run things better but he died. They are best at doing things like imposing new unjust regulations and new rules and their favorite is multiple dock inspections because of the extreme dangers of docks even though there have been no deaths in my 30-years of being here. You cannot be too careful but I am not sure the government is capabable of keep me safe. I have made it so far without them but it was probably just luck. I have never liked unqualified people telling me what to do but you do it or else they will unleash all of the powers of the government and weaponize them against anyone that does not comply. The surface water temperature is 86-degrees and the thermocline is at 34-feet and the clarity is avout 5-feet at that depth. Several fish of different species are at or near there on brush or in chunk rocks. Many more creek minnows and shad are moving back into the creeks in the evening indicating fall may be approaching. There is a top-water bite for bass some mornings about 9:AM especially on cloudy days. Use a small bink's Spoon or a live minnow on a slip float and set it about 5-feet further than you can see it and catch some nice Kentucky Bass, Bluegill and a few Crappie on 30-ft. brush. The full Blue Moon is tomorrow and with the dropping water do not expect the Catfish to bite very well. Fishing will improve right after Labor Day.
