One bite two fish on a top-water lure. 
The lake level is 556.70 and has dropped 2-1/2 inches in the last 24-hours. They shut down all generation all night and started up at 8:AM this morning. It looks like no more fast drops as we approach the top of the power pool of 555.75 on 13 August. They are scheduled to run 1-3/4 generators until 8:PM tonight. The surface water temperature is 87-degrees and the White River at Newport is 8.65 feet and still low. There has not been much effort to drop the area lakes very much below the top of power pools and they are content to keep Newport well below the 12-ft. rule. One big rain could bring them up too high again but they are at good levels now and we remain very dry with a possibility of some rain early next week with a good weekend forecast. The thermocline remains with a start at 30-feet and cold water at 35-feet with visibility of about 5-feet at that level. Diving conditions are good. Blackburns Resort brush piles are at good levels now and are ready for the crappie to move into them in a couple of weeks. It usually happens about 25 August. There are a few there now but not big schools. Kentucky bass are all over them in the 25-ft. range and large mouth in the 30-ft. range. Walleye are deeper and around 38-ft. on thje bottom on main lake drop-offs in chunk rocks. Stripers are in front of Quarry Marina in 60+ ft. of water at various depths. Bink's Spoons are the lure of choice.
