The lake level is 556.89 and has dropped 5-3/4 inches in the last 24-hours with both generators running continuously for a week. This is what they can do if they want to. It is too bad they had to hold the level up too high for most of the summer for no reason. The White River at Newport is 8.71 feet and still low. We need rain badly. The surface water temperature is 87-degrees and the water remains pretty clear down to the thermocline which starts at 30-feet and is cold at 35-feet. The lake overall is at a good level and great condition for boating, swimming, fishing and diving. The weather has cooled from the mid 90's to the mid to low 80's and the night time lows are cooler also. The weather looks good through the weekend with a chance of rain early next week. The Stripers are out in front of Quarry Marina so just look for all of the boats and join them. They are coveyed up like a bunch of Quail. The Stripers are in 60-ft. of water and deeper so drop a spoon on their heads or drag some live bait through the shad. The walleye are in 35-40 ft. of water off main lake points near the bottom. 1/2 ounce Bink's White Spoons with a red eye are the best for both. I am seeing some nice bass and crappie off main lake points in 30-ft. of water on brush. The Kentucky Bass are a little shallower but are in higher numbers. The overall fish and shad population on Norfork Lake are very good and the fish are very healthy. The overall prices on both cabins and boat rentals at Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental are also very good. Summer is not over so compare prices and call Debbie at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. A free stall for your boat comes with a cabin rental of two days or more. We do not have stalls for one day rentals. It is nice here and the price is right. We especially welcome Veterans and Police. New news. They just quit generating.for some reason.
