Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region fishing report and lake condition by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

Scuba Steve with a nice one yesterday. Yes he knows where they are located and will show you when you get here. Image title

The lake level is 560.36 and has dropped 3/4 of an inch in the last 24-hours with generation for five hours. The White River at Newport is 7.43 feet and very low indicating not much water is being let out anywhere. All other lakes are below top of power pool except Norfork which is 5-feet above. Why are they holding Norfork up so high? I guess they want to kill all of the shoreline vegetation and create another Striper kill.  We are getting dry again and it is to be hot and sunny for the next week. The surface water temperature is 87-degrees and the water is very clear. The thermocline is still at 29-feet and there are fish of different species at or just below that on main lake brush. Stripers are deeper and in front of Quarry Marina. There were 135,133 Stripers and 45,457 Hybrid stripers stocked in Norfork lake this year and nothing else. I sure would like to see more Walleye stocked. Missouri stocks quite a few but it would be good if Arkansas did also. Walleye reproduce and Stripers and hybrids are put and take like the river trout and do not. The Walleye population and size is increasing on Norfork but not where Scuba Steve would like them. They are increasing in popularity but few are released as they are such good eating. More and more Crappie are moving to main lake brush and it is earlier than usual. Other Walleye are deeper and in 40-ft. of water near the bottom around chunk rocks. Bass are in deeper brush during the day and move in shallow at dusk to feed on Crawdads and Lizards. This year's baitfish are growing and hanging around cover and drawing predator fish. The Bass population on Norfork Lake is very good. I do not kill Largemouth or Smallmouth but Kentucky Bass are very good eating and bite when others get hard to catch. Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental still has a couple of openings for Labor day weekend so give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 before we fill up and you have to pay much more for a cabin and boat rental elsewhere and maybe even for your first boat stall. This time of year it is best to make sure your cabin has a big covered porch to get out of the sun and the resort has a big swimming pool. Blackburns has it all and at the best price. We especially welcome Veterans and Police Come on down and we will not charge you too much. Scuba Steve is a Veteran but does not require as much Policing as he used to for some reason.
