Norfork Lake Arkansas near mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains region Fishing Report and lake Conditions by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

Caught on the Bink's Jigging Spoon in 60-ft. of water. Image title

The lake level is 560.65 and has dropped 2-inches in the last 24-hours with both generators running for 12-hours. They are scheduled to run the same amount today. The White River at Newport is 10.83 feet and low so they could let out much more if they wanted. The surface water temperature is 87-degrees with the thermocline at 29-feet and the visibility is about 6-feet at that level and good for Scuba Diving. The lake is overall in good condition but there is some small wood floating around out there with the wind. The boat traffic is low during the week but picks up on the weekends. It has not been a busy July on the lake. Bink is still catching some nice Stripers and a few walleye on his spoon in 45-60 ft. of water near the bottom. I am seeing more and more Crappie moving to main lake brush everyday. It is early for that but welcome. Most of the larger Walleye have moved out deeper and are below the thermoclione for some reason. The White Bass will roam around main lake brush soon in about 25-ft. of water and will bite spoons and Rooster Tails. I am seeing a few large dead Stripers floating around out there and am not sure if they are doing it on their own or being released by a fisherman from deep water. I have not seen a dissolved oxygen report but would like to see one. Back in my Chemical Engineering Days I had one but it broke and they cost quite a bit. They are mostly used in wastewater plants. Kentucky Bass are biting well off brush on spoons and jigs. The night bite for Bass is still good. I will get a Catfishing report this weekend. The weather has been great for the end of July but it is to get hot again next week with highs in the mid 90's. Almost every year it gets very hot the last week of July and the first week in August. It should not be a surprise to anyone.
