The Crappie are moving in to Blackburns Brush Piles. Scuba Steve will show you.
The lake level is 560.86 and has dropped 1.2 inches in the last 24-hours with one generator running 8-hours and both for two hours. The White River is 10.46 feet and low but they are begrudgingly letting more out of Norfork today. There has been no reason for holding up Norfork for so high for so long. Just a couple of feet would make a big difference. They must not like us here. The next thing they will mandate us to take down our overhead power lines to our docks. Government. You gotta love em. They are always out there deciding what is best for us. The surface water temperature is 84-degrees and the water is as clear as I have seen it at the end of July for years. The clarity is very good for Scuba Diving. Crappie are starting to move in to Blackburns Brush piles and a few larger Walleye are mixed in with them on main lake brush just under the 29-ft. thermocline. Go to the main lake points and long banks in brush from 25-35 ft. of water and you will find fish of different species. Others are still on main lake in 45-55 ft. of water on shad at varoius depths. Night fishing for Bass is still good. Bluegill fishing is also good on top of brush and off docks on Crickets. Catfishing is fair at night on live bait but the moon is too big and the lake is dropping. They do not like either of those things. Fishing is not bad for the end of July. There are a lot of Kentucky Bass being caught. Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental still has a couple of openings for Labor Day weekend. Give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 before you have to pay much more someplace else and also pay for your first boat stall. We will not charge you too much and the children will love it here. No sense staying in a trailer or duplex unless you have to.
