Caught fishing with Bink's Guide service on his Jigging Spoon.
The lake level is 561.11 and has dropped 1-1/3rd inch in the last 24-hours with 10-hours of generation and then nothing. No generation is scheduled for today and they are holding Norfork up as high as they can for as long as they can. They are running Bull Sholas very heavily trying to get it back to normal. Norfork is about 9-10 feet too high for this time of year. The White River at Newport is 12.95 feet and dropping quickly and headed back to or below the 12-ft. level. The person managing the area lake levels needs to be replaced like the Secret Service Director. The surface water temperature is 83-degrees with a thermocline at 29-feet with about 5-ft. of visibility at that depth. The lake leverall is in very good condition but just a little bit of floating wood is on the main lake. They have taken most of the rain out of the forecast except for this afternoon but nothing serious. The cooler weather is very welcome to most people. The end of July in Northern Arkansas is usually very hot. This is rare. For fishing, go out early, take the middle of the day off and go out again in the evening. Kentucky Bass is the best bite but some Stripers and Walleye are being caught in deep water on shad in the 55-60 ft. range at various depths but mostly near the bottom. Several Shad are in open water at the thermocline with fish of different species feeding on them. Crappie have not moved to the brush in big numbers yet. The Bluegill bite is good on top of brush and off docks on crickets. There is still time to bring the Grand Kids to Blackburns for a short vacation before school starts. Compare prices and give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. We will not charge you too much and the first stall for your boat is free at our dock with a cabin rental of two days or more. It is nice here and the price is right. The children will like the big pool with slide and green flat playground. Bring their bikes. You do not have to go down a cliff to get to the dock.
