Scuba Steve with a nice one.
The lake level is 560.97 and has dropped 1-1/2 inches in the lst 24-hours with 12-hours of generation. They were scheduled to start up again this morning but have not done so. The White River at Newport is 9.02 feet and very low indicating not much water is being released anywhere. Why are they holding Norfork lake up so high and keep the other lakes below the top of the power pool? Someone needs to answer for it. I know it is cool all over the Southwestern Power distribution area but they must need some electricity somewhere. I know we need the lake dropped at least 5-feet.The surface water temperature was 85-degrees in the middle of the river channel and a couple of degrees higher near the shore out of the current. The water temperature is not entirely a function of the weather but how much cold spring water is coming in from the the Norfork River. The thermocline is dropping and is now at 29-feer. A lot of fish of different species are at or around that depth especially around cover. Others are near the bottom in 55-ft. of water. The spoon is the lure of choice and the Bink's many Shad is working the best. The morning bite only lasts a couple of hours from 5-7 AM and then quits. The after dark bite for bass on saltcraws is good. Debbie said to post that she has a few openings for the labor day weekend so give here a call at 870-492-5115.
