The lake level is 561.03 and is the same as it was at this time yesterday with generation from 9:AM to 5:PM and then nothing and nothing scheduled for today. They refuse to drop the lake and want to hold it up as high as they can for as long as they can. There is no generation scheduled for any area lakes today as they do not need any electricity anywhere with the cool weather everywhere. The people in charge of the dam management definitely need to be replaced. The surface water temperature is 87 degrees with a thermocline at 28-feet with visibility of about 4-feet at that level. Spearfishing season for flathead catfish starts tomorrow and they have finished spawning. They are the last ones.  The White River at Newport is 11.56 feet and dropping. The minor flood stage there is 26-feet and they can have Newport at 25-feet with no problem to anybody. Walleye fishing is pretty good now at 30-feet just off the bottom on the spoon and dragging nightcrawler harnesses. Catfishing on live bait is good but the moon is getting bigger and it will slow soon except for cloudy nights. We could get some rain on Tuesday night and early Wednesday. Bass are still on brush in about 25-30 feet of water during the day and move to the bank to feed at dusk on saltcraws on a jig or a Carolina Rig. Big Bluegill are still being caught under willows and off docks flipping a cricket and letting it sink back to you. Stripers are down deep and near the dam on the spoon. The lake overall is in good condition for swimming, diving, boating and fishing. A one bedroom is still $90/day and comes with a free stall for your boat at our dock with a stay of two days or more here at Blackburns. All cabins are individual with no duplexes and no duplex trailers and all have big covered porches or screened-in porch to get out of the sun and weather.  We have 12-pontoons to rent but you have to be a guest here to rent a boat. Not my rule, Corps of Engineers stupid rule. It helps keep the price of boats up high at the marinas. You can usually stay here and rent a boat for about the same price as a boat elsewhere. Compare prices and call Debbie at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. We will not charge you too much and we especially welcome Veterans and Police. Old Glory and The Thin Blue Line Flag fly proudly over Blackburns.
