Caught fishing with Bink's Guide Service.
The lake level is 559.59 and has dropped 3/4 of an inch in the last 24-hours with generation from 9AM to 5PM but none scheduled for today. The White River at Newport is 7.38 feet and very low indicating not much is being released anywhere. They are trying to hold the area lakes up as high as possible for as long as possible so hurricane Beryl can flood us out. There is no reason to be this high except for bad management. It has surpassed bad management and now has risen to the level of incompetence. People need to be replaced. The surface water temperature is 88-degrees and the water is clearing just a bit from the holiday traffic which was not nearly as bad as I had anticipated. Bink is still catching Stripers, Hybrids and a few walleye in deep water about 50-ft. down and Scuba Steve is getting a few Crappie and Walleye on main lake points in 27-ft. of water near the thermocline. Bluegill are biting off docks and under willows on crickets. Bass are coming to the bank to feed in the late evenings on crawdads. Catfish are biting live bait at night. We are to get very cool on Tuesday with heavy rain from the hurricane. We are dry and can take a couple of inches but not much more without a big lake rise. It would be nice if we were at 552 where we should be but they just will not do it. We are in good condition for boating, swimming, scuba diving and fishing at this time and hope we can stay that way. Blackburns continues to have the best prices on both cabins and boat rentals in the ozarks and a free stall for your boat at our dock comes with a cabin rental of two days or more. All cabins are individual with no duplexes and all have big covered porches to get out of the weather and sun. Come on down and we will not charge you too much. The big pool with slide and baby pool is open and there are lots of things to keep the children busy. We are the family place. Call Debbie at 870-492-5115 for a reservation.
