The lake level is 560.02 and has dropped 1-3/4 inches in the last 24-hours with generation from 9:AM to 5:PM. The White River at Newport remains at 12.34 feet and they are regulating to that level religiously. They are running Bull Shoals hard and dropping it quickly.The thermocline is at 26-feet with a mud line at 22-26 feet but you can see through it. Visibility is fair-good for this time of year. The surface water temperature is 86-degrees and dropped just a bit with the last cold front and north wind. It is to get hot again later this week. Bass are on main lake points on brush during the day and move to the bank to feed at sunset and salt craws are the bait of choice. During the day some are still in open water on shad. Stripers are in open water on shad. Look for them near the constant cold water line in water from 100-130 ft. about 40-50 ft. down and drop a spoon on their heads. Catfishing will get better as the moon wanes but they do not loke dropping water levels. 3-4 inch live Bluegill are the best bait. Crappie are on top of brush and roaming looking for bait fish. You might have to check several places to find them. Big Bluegill are around willows and off docks and like live crickets the best. The larger Walleye have moved off main lake point brush and are on flats neat the bottom in 30-ft. of water and roaming in pairs. Some go deep with the Stripers. The ones left on the brush are mostly small. Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental continues to have the best prices on both cabins and boat rentals in the Ozarks. We have 12-pontoons to rent. Sorry we do not allow dragging anything with our boats or taking them out after dark. If you want to do this stay at Blackburns and rent a boat from a marina. They do not mind dragging but be ready to pay for it. Ours are for swimming, fishing, using as a headquarters and cruising. All of our cabins are individual with no duplexes or duplex trailers and all have big covered porches to get out of the weather and sun.
