Mike Eakle with a nice one. He continues to catch big fish.
The lake level is 560.50 and has risen 4-inches in the last 24-hours< They quit generating for two days and then started up both generators for about 4-hours starting at 1:PM and then quit again. They are intentionally letting the water get too high for no reason. The White River at Newport is 12.95 feet and the minor flood stage there is 25-feet. Plenty of room for more water without hurting anything. The surface water temperature is 79-degrees with the thermocline starting at 22-feet and very cold at 26-feet. There is a mud line stating at 22-feet with little visibility down past the thermocline. The visibility is about 5-feet down to there and a little better than last week The creeks are stained green but a good color for fishing. Crappie are back in the major creeks on brush in 30-ft. of water and bass are around cover at various depths and also in open water on shad. If you see wounded shad with bass feeding on them on top there will be stripers under them. People are killing a lot of 5-7 pound small stripers before they get a chance to grow and will pay for it later and it is the same people day after day. Walleye are on main lake points and gravelly banks on the main lake at or below the thermocline near the bottom. I am using spoons most of the time for about everything except crappie and using a Bobby Garland jigs for them. Bluegill are biting crickets off docks and around shallow willows.
