Norfork Lake Aekansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region Fishing Report and Lake Condition by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

Image titleScuba Steve with his best one yesterday.

The lake level is 558.28 and is the same as this time yesterday with one generator running from 9:AM to 5:PM. The White River at Newport is 13.64 feet and dropping. The surface water is 79-degrees and rising slowly. They are running Table Rock hard at the expense of Bull Shoals with is higher than it should be. The water is clearing from the Holiday churn more and more everyday but is not back where it was. Overall the lake is in good condition and at a good level but I would like it to be about 5-6 feet lower so we have a little capacity for a big rain. There are more and more jet skis out there everyday and I really missed them. I am sure they provide some worthy service but I cannot figure out what except to burn gas and teach young people how to abuse machinery. They really like to investigate why other people are back in creeks in a quiet place relaxing or fishing. It is like they are attracted to it. There are some very nice fish of different species being caught everyday and more and more are moving to main lake points on brush. The thermocline is about 18-feet but not very rhick and not pronunced. It goes from 79 at the top down to 72 at 18-19 feet and cold after that. Several fish are from 15-20 feet down at various depths around and in brush and along gravelly banks. Lots of Bass are showing up along with White Bass in open water on shad. Catfishing is getting better as the moon wanes. Blackburns still has a few openings here and there so give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation before you have to pay much more elsewhere. Some even charge for the first boat stall. We do not. Our 1-bedroom cabins are $90/day. and the big pool with slide is open. You will like it here and the price is right. We have lots of boats to rent.
