The lake level is 557.70 and is the same as it was at this time yesterday. They continue to run one generator from 9:AM to 5:PM daily and keep us one foot over the top of the power pool. There is no effort to drop the lake. The White River at Newport is 12.44 feet as they regulate to 12-feet for some unknown reason. The main lake surface water temperature is 75-degrees this morning and 77 in Blackburns Creek. The main lake is clear and the creeks are stained green but will cloud up with the heavy holiday boat traffic stirring up the water for a few days especially near clay and mud banks. Overall the lake is in good condition and at a good level with all services operable. We just do not need a big rain in the Norfork River drainage basin. It looks to be a big weekend. Most species of fish are biting but nothing exceptional. The full moon and shad spawn are now over and it did not spur the top-water bite much. It is still sporatic and unreliable but early morning just at sunrise is your best chance. Stripers have already gone deep and will continue to go deeper as the water warms. Most species have finished spawning except Flathead Catfish and a few Kentucky Bass. It is time to start spooning. I am catching Bass, Crappie, a few Walleye and some Catfish but not high numbers of anything. Schooled crappie are small and the big ones are mostly singles. Blackburns is your family fun place and has the best prices on both cabins and boat rentals in the Ozarks. Sorry we do not allow tubing or pulling anything with our boats and they all must be in before dark. If you want to drag things around you can stay here and get a boat at a marina. They like that.
