Scuba Steve releasing some good ones under Blackburns dock. He has not killed a fish this year.
The lake level is 557.38 and has risen 1.2 inches in the last 24-hours with one generator running for about 8-hours from 9:AM to 5:PM. It has been rising slowly but steadily for over 2-weeks.It's recent low level was 553.62.They are regulating the White River at Newport to 12-feet for some reason and is is 11.88 feet and has leveled off. They are running Bull Shoals heavily and it is still rising. The surface water temperature is 72-degrees. It was 74. The main lake is clear, especially near the shore, and the creeks are stained green but a good color for fishing. The lake overall is in good condition and at a good level. The spawn for most species is either finished or nearly finished except for Bluegill, Fflathead Catfish, some Kentucky Bass and about 1/3rd of the Crappie. Overall fishing is good but not easy. Catfish have started biting on live bait. Several fish are still back in the creeks but a few have moved to main lake brush on points. Red meat fish are coming up early sometimes but after sunrise move to deeper water in 50-60 ft. of water. There is a good supply of shad. I went out for a couple of hours yesterday in the middle of the day and caught some nice spawned out crappie on the main lake on brush in 24-ft. of water. Bluegill are biting well off the dock. I do not fish in the middle of the night so I have no report on that. Early to bed early to rise makes a guy's girl go out with other guys. Blackburns still has a couple of cabins open for Memorial Day. We fill them up and then they cancel. There are a lot of health problems out there. A free stall for your boat at our dock comes with a cabin rental of two days or more and we are pet friendly. Give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. It is nice here and the price is right. Compare. Our big pool with slide will be open and there is a lot for the children to do. Bring their bikes.
