The lake level is 557.26 and has risen 3/4 of an inch in the last 24-hours. They run both generators for two hours yesterday only but have started up one gnererator at 9:AM this morning. The White River at Newport is 12.03 feet and they are regulating to 12-feet which means not much water will be released until we get to 70% full. Who made that rule? The surface water temperature is rising and is now at 74-degrees on the main lake and a little warmer in the shallower creeks. The main lake remains clear and the creeks stained a little green. There is a top-water bite mostly for White bass and real Bass but has been sporatic and disappointing this spring. I hope the days of acres of stripers coming up in late April and early May are not over but a lot of stripers have been killed by guides and locals going out everyday catching multiple limits. We have more guides than visiting fishermen. I hope they all make it. More and more spawned out Crappie and Bass are being caught everyday and the lake has remained stable all spring so far and it has been a good spawn for most all species. We will need them in the future with all of the fishing pressure. They took the size limit off the Kentucky Bass and people are keeping a lot of baby ones. I guess that was the idea. There looks to be to be enough shad in the lake for everybody and fish are very healthy. Right now is prime fishing. The next event will be the forming of the summer thermocline and the Walleye moving to the main lake points right in and just under the thermocline in about 16-ft. of water near brush and followed by the Scuba season June 15th. Things are looking good here at Blackburns and we are ready for your visit. Come on down and we will not charge you too much. Compare prices and give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation. All cabins are individual with no duplexes and all have big covered porches to get out of the weather. A free stall for your boat at our dock comes with the cabin. Blackburns is closest to Mountain Home dining and shopping. It is nice here and the price is right. Scuba Steve will show you where his brush piles are located.
