Norfork Lake Arkansas near Mountain Home in the Ozarks Mountains Region Fishing Report and lake Condition by Scuba Steve from Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental.

Caught fishing with Bink's Guide Service on the spoon in 30-ft. of water on a main lake point on the bottom. Image title

The lake level is 553.71 and is the same as it was at this time yesterday. They had been running the 0ne operating generator for about 8-hours in a 24-hour period but did not start it up this morning. They are very reluctant to drop the lake below the top of the power pool of 553.75 and when they get there they stop generating immediately. We are fortunate that we have not received the usual heavy spring rains or we would be flooded out like last year.It rained just a bit last night but not much.  They have been dropping it more quickly than in the past and not just holding and hoping and lake management is getting better but not there yet. I will move them from a grade of F to C. The surface water temperature is 68 on the main lake and near 70 in the shallow creeks. The clarity is good under the layer of pollen. It is too clear for fishing down by the dam.If you are fishing main lake points there are some White Bass, Walleye and larger bass in about 30-32 feet of water right on the bottom and can be caught on the spoon. Bass are biting creature baits back in the creeks beating the banks and the larger ones have either spawned or on nests. The Gizard Shad are spawning but I still have not seen it happening with the Threadfin. They like 70-degree water. When they do the stripers will start feeding on top. Look for fish feeding back in the creeks near the shore on windblown banks. A cold front is here and may slow the fishing a bit the next couple of days with cool nights but I expect the tournament fishermen to do well this weekend fishing beds. I do not fish beds or sight fish. I would like it if they would have the fishing tournaments after the spawn but some of them are for good causes like the Cystic.
