The lake level is 553.78 and has dropped 3/4 of an inch in the last 24-hours with the one operating generator running about 1/2 the time. We are right at the top-of the power pool of 553.75 and the lake has been very stable for several months and it will be a good spawn if it stays that way for just a few more weeks. The top of the power pool changes to 556.75 on May 15th and we will see if they raise the level to there. I do not know where this change came from. It was 552 until the worthless minimum flow was enacted and they they took away 1.75 feet of flood control on the lake for the put and take trout on the rivers and then raised it again in May. So much for the dam being for just flood control. That went out the window.  556.75 is too high and does not leave much room for any big rain. They have been doing a better job lately but are not there yet. I am still figuring what I will do when they make us take out the overhead electric and remove power poles. They sent out $18,000 worth of registered letters. I wonder where that money came from? Underground and solar does not work effectively for larger docks with a high electrical demand. It may work for small private docks but not larger ones that have to be moved a significant distance unlike marinas that just go mostly up and down. Boat Lifts and boat battery chargers require more than ever before.  The Corps of Engineers is not a friend of Dock owners. I appreciate what they do to keep the Lakes clean and not polluted like the Lake of the Ozarks but some of their rule changes, that have been in effect for over 70-years, without out any imput form the public are making it very tough to do business.  Especially just a few weeks after issuing 10-year dock leases requiring $10,000 surety bonds. They knew they were going to do this when issuing dock leases. They are doing this under the guise of safety and it is not more safe. They think people do not swim around Marina docks. A lot happens when they go home for the weekend at 4:PM on Friday. Government. You gotta love em. Bass fishing is the best right now and can be caught on both creature baits on a jig head and chatterbaits. Take off all hardware and use only clear, light line especially in this clear water. They are very boat and line shy. If you are fishing brush shut off the trolling motor as much as possible and shut off spot lock and anchor for the best resuls. We need some warm nights for the top-water bite to take off. it is the best time of year and the easiest fishing. Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental still is the home of the $59/day one bedroom cabins and $79/day two bedrooms. Three and four bedrooms are priced accordingly and they come with a free stall for your boat at our dock. All are individual with no duplexes and all have big covered or screened-in porches. We still have two openings for Bass Cat Invitational so give Debbie a call at 870-492-5115 for a reservation before you have to pay much more elsewhere. If you are not staying at Blackburns Resort and Boat Rental you are paying too much.
