The lake level is 553.94 and is rising slowly with no generation for three days. They refuse to drop the lake below 553.75 which is the top of the power pool. The White River at Newport is 7.84 feet and very low indicating not much water is being released anywhere. The surface water temperature remains in the high 50's bot on the main lake and in the creeks. The water is stained a little green in the creeks and clear on the main lake and very clear near the shore. The ambient temperature in the 80's tomorrow should bring the bass and crappie back in the creeks for good this time after warming and cooling several times earlier this spring. The cold fronts are not as cold. Bass, Crappie and Walleye  are all biting some and at different times and different places. The main lake points with brush are still holding some nice bass but they should move back in to build nests soon. 65-degree water is when things really get in full swing but a few will start before then. April 15th is usually when the top-water bite starts for bass and stripers. Some White Bass are starting to bite shallow now. Blackburns is still the home of the $59/day one bedroom cabins and 79/day two bedrooms and a free stall for your boat comes with the cabin rental.
